Develop a culture of innovation at the heart of a school establishment

What does it mean to “innovate” ?

It is to bring an innovative solution to a problem or challenge.

An innovative solution is not only new.
It is :

  • Pertinent : it rests on a profound comprehension of experience and of the needs of the concerned public and present actors.
  • Adapted to the local context
  • Adopted by the present actors (which is facilitated by dialogue and co-creation)

How to develop a culture of innovation at the heart of the establishment ?

The proposition of Synlab : training and accompaniment of establishment and pedagogical team heads.

Principle :

  • In going off of a challenge of the establishment (how to improve the treatment of violence without supplementary means ? How would we be able to rethink the library of the school with regard to the needs and interests of students ? How would we then be able to establish more relationships between the establishment and the neighborhood around ? etc.) It involves bringing to life an innovative concept to the teaching team in 1 year. This experiment registers itself in the frame of the establishment project, it is inspired by the establishment head himself (or another person). The experiment must reinforce the cohesion of the team and discover the benefits of the approach.
  • The second year, the challenge of the teaching team will be making the approach durable and sustainable.

Results

The goal of Synlab is that over the course of these 2 years, the cohesion within the team will be reinforced, and that the participants (head of establishment, teachers, other people) will have acquired a culture of innovation, bringing them to :

  • Welcome innovation with kindness (acceptance of innovation)
  • Resolve their challenges and problems in adopting this innovative attitude (collaborative, centered on the human, experimental, open on the exterior, etc.) (emergence of innovation).

*The process of conception and problem solving that we propose is :

  • Centered on the human : founded on the experience and the needs of the present actors
  • Collaborative : we have the best ideas together
  • Experimental : we learn by doing, we can make mistakes, a good solution is the result of many tries
  • Openness to the unexpected : we go off of a particular problem and we can discover other things along the way It is not about a miraculous solution, but a constructive and optimistic solution.
