The educational resource Bâtisseurs de possibles

The goal is to permit children and young adults age 6-18 to take initiative in the service of others and of their community and to learn via interdisciplinary, cooperative, and creative projects.

In doing this, children, the youth, become conscious of the fact that they are world actors, active citizens, and that starts now. They develop confidence in themselves, their ability to work as a team, their creativity, their oral expression, and their sense of responsibility : key skills for their academic success, their development, and their capacity to act as citizens.

Bâtisseurs de possibles proposes a framework in which children can express their own ideas for a better world and put them into action, following four steps :

1. Identify a problem to resolve, a situation to improve
2. Imagine a solution
3. Carry out this solution concretely
4. Share the experience with others

Whatever the subject chosen, the ideas must come from the children.

• Examples of problems identified by children : violence between children, dirtiness or bad reputation of a neighborhood, mistreatment of animals, etc.
• Examples of actions carried out by them : goose game to decrease violence, neighborhood cleaning day and construction of a dog pen, collection of stories from older people of the neighborhood, etc.
